Notification preferences

PostRoll fires notifications for ~60 different events spread across your worlds, your social activity, sessions you’re in, your outpost, the shop, and more. The Notifications settings page gives you a single place to decide which of those reach you and how.

Open it from your avatar → Settings → Notifications. The notifications bell in the sidebar also has a quick link in its header (the gear icon).

Every notification type can be delivered on up to three channels:

  • App — the bell badge and the in-app notifications drawer.
  • Email — sent to the address on your account. Batched per the digest cadence (below).
  • Push — browser push notifications, even when PostRoll isn’t open in a tab. Requires the browser to grant notification permission once.

Each row in the category table has a switch per channel.

The All notifications switch at the top is a kill-switch. When off, no notifications reach you on any channel and the per-category tables hide. Flip it back on to see your saved preferences again.

Mute every notification for a set window. Pick one of the presets (30 min, 1 hour, 4 hours, 24 hours); the page shows the active-until timestamp once enabled. Click Turn off to clear it early.

DND is account-wide, not per-channel — it silences in-app, email, and push for the duration.

By default, notification emails are sent instantly. If your inbox is busy, switch to a digest:

  • Instant — one email per notification.
  • Daily — one summary email per day.
  • Weekly — one summary email per week.
  • Off — no notification emails at all (in-app and push still fire).

The setting applies globally to any type that has Email enabled.

  1. Toggle Browser push notifications on.
  2. The browser prompts for notification permission — accept it.
  3. Once enabled, every category table grows a Push column on the right.
  4. Pick which types should fire push notifications per-type.

The settings page groups types into:

  • Invitations & sharing — room invites, world/resource shares.
  • Social — follows, post likes/comments/replies/mentions, new posts from people you follow.
  • Chat — @mentions and new DMs.
  • Rooms & sessions — member joins/leaves, role changes, session reminders, event RSVPs and ticket purchases.
  • Applications — game-table application submissions and the decision (approved / declined / waitlisted / expired).
  • Outposts — your outpost’s new members, followers, supporters, and tier changes.
  • Shop & monetisation — purchases, sales, listings, publish/pause/feature events, booking confirmations and refunds, payout failures, Stripe Connect status.
  • Perks — promo-code grants that have been redeemed or are about to expire.
  • Subscription & billing — renewal, payment failures, trial ending.
  • Reviews & verification — new reviews, responses, flagged reviews, review requests, GM verification decisions.
  • System — system announcements and moderation notices.

The bell in the sidebar opens a quick view; /app/notifications is the same list as a full page, and it’s where a tapped push notification lands. Both have a Mark all read button and a gear icon that jumps straight to the preferences above.

A row of tabs across the top narrows the list, each with a count:

  • All — everything.
  • Unread — anything you haven’t opened yet.
  • Action needed — items still waiting on a decision from you.
  • Invites — room invites, world and resource shares, follow requests and their outcomes.
  • Mentions — posts, comments, and chat messages where someone @-mentioned you.

Notifications of the same kind about the same thing within a day are collapsed into a single line — “Alex, Sam and 2 others” — with the count and the most recent time. Click it to expand and see each one individually.

  • Click the card to jump to whatever it’s about. That marks it read.
  • Invites carry Accept and Decline buttons on the card, so you can answer without leaving the list.
  • Mark as read (the tick) clears the unread state and leaves the card in place.
  • Dismiss (the cross) archives it — it disappears from every tab.

The list loads a page at a time; Load more at the bottom fetches the next batch.
