Mentions and jump toasts
When someone @-mentions you in a channel you’re not currently viewing, PostRoll surfaces an actionable toast at the bottom of the screen.
The toast
Section titled “The toast”Aerin mentioned you in #the-tavern[Jump]Click Jump to switch to that channel and scroll the feed to the mentioning message. The message highlights briefly so you can spot it without re-reading the whole channel.
If you click anywhere else on the page, the toast dismisses on its own after a few seconds.
When toasts don’t fire
Section titled “When toasts don’t fire”- You’re already viewing the conversation. No toast — you see the message land in real time, no need to interrupt.
- The channel is muted to “Nothing”. Even mentions are silenced; you’ll see them in the channel only if you visit it.
- The mention chip points at someone else. Self-mentions only produce toasts.
The notifications bell
Section titled “The notifications bell”In addition to toasts, every mention writes a notification in the bell at the top of PostRoll. Open the bell to see your mention history with click-through to the mentioning message.
Email and push
Section titled “Email and push”By default, chat mentions are in-app only — no email, no push. Opt in per type via Account → Notifications. PostRoll is deliberately conservative here so a busy session doesn’t email- storm you.
Mentions in forwarded messages
Section titled “Mentions in forwarded messages”When a message is forwarded into another conversation, the original mention chips persist but they don’t re-fire notifications for the destination conversation. Only fresh mentions in the new commentary trigger notifications.
