The Companion
The Companion is the panel on the right-hand edge of PostRoll. Open it with the waypoints icon in the contextual rail, and it tells you what the thing you’re looking at is connected to.
It’s available on every page. When you’re on something with connections it describes them; when you’re not, it becomes a way to find anything and pick up where you left off.
One thing, described several ways

Empty groups don’t appear, so a new world shows a short panel that grows as you write.
Following a connection doesn’t leave the page
Section titled “Following a connection doesn’t leave the page”This is the part worth knowing. Clicking a row moves the Companion, not the page. You can follow a thread three steps out — Marra, to House Ferrow, to the Drowned King — while the page you were editing stays exactly where it was.
A trail appears along the top showing how you got there, and each step remembers the relationship that led to it. Click any crumb to go back, or the home icon to return to the page you’re actually on.
When you do want to go somewhere, the ↗ on a row opens it properly.

What else it does

Pin a handful of NPCs and places to the satchel and they stay with you across pages — and to the table.
Before you run
Clues still hidden, drafts never made canon, open items on your boards.
Verbs
Make something an entity, create an event already attached to it, roll a table, or find how two things connect.
Does the Companion use AI?
Section titled “Does the Companion use AI?”It never generates anything. No part of the panel writes prose, summarises your world, invents a connection, or decides that two things contradict. Every row it shows is something you or your collaborators actually put there.
Two parts of it do use a model, and it’s worth being precise about which:
Akin to and Ask work by similarity. To do that, PostRoll keeps a numerical index of your wiki pages, built by sending their text to Voyage AI — an embedding service that turns text into numbers so that passages about similar things sit near each other. No text comes back; nothing is written. Asking a question also sends your question to be turned into numbers the same way, so it can be compared against that index.
Everything else in the Companion — relationships, mentions, chronology, appearances, collections, the satchel, path-finding, Before you run — is plain database queries over links you made. No model is involved at any point.
What it will never do
Section titled “What it will never do”The Companion surfaces and connects. It never writes.
Where it has an opinion — like noticing that two pages describe someone quite differently — it shows you both passages and leaves the judgement to you. It will not tell you which is right, and it will never edit either.
