Creating a group
A group is the container for one campaign or community: a member list, channels, optional voice, custom emoji, roles, and an audit log.
Create one
Section titled “Create one”- In the chat sidebar, click the + at the top of the Groups section.
- Pick New group.
- Name it (you can rename later) and pick an avatar / icon.
- Click Create.
You’re dropped into the group’s home view as the owner. By
default the group has one channel — usually #general — that you
can rename or replace.
Linking the group to a play room
Section titled “Linking the group to a play room”If this group is for a campaign, link it to a play room so the chat surface and the virtual tabletop share state. From Group settings → Overview, pick the room from the Linked room dropdown (or create a new one).
A linked group surfaces:
- Voice channels shared with the room’s live voice session.
- The active session banner across all channels when the room goes live.
- Two-way slash commands (
/scene,/init). - Live captions from session transcription.

Initial settings to consider
Section titled “Initial settings to consider”- Description and topic. Set the group description on the Overview tab; set per-channel topics in each channel’s settings.
- Accent colour. Pick one to tint mention chips, headers, and reaction halos in the group’s channels. See Channel banner and accent.
- Custom emoji. Upload a few signature emoji to give the group a distinct flavour. See Custom emojis.
- Roles. Set up roles before inviting people if you have a permission structure in mind. See Channel permissions.
