Sharing & permissions
Almost everything you make in PostRoll is private until you share it. When you do, you choose exactly who gets in and whether they can only read or also edit.
What you can share
Section titled “What you can share”The Share button opens the same dialog everywhere. These types support the full sharing system:
| Type | What recipients get |
|---|---|
| Worlds | The whole world — wiki pages, plus boards and scenes that belong to it. |
| Boards | The board canvas; editors can move and add nodes. |
| Actors | The character and its sheet. |
| Scenes | The scene; editors get the GM toolbar. |
| Tokens | The token and its editor (for editors). |
| Cards | The card; editors can update it. |
| Card templates | The template, usable and editable per role. |
Sharing a world cascades: anyone you share a world with can also open the boards and scenes inside it, at the same access level. Removing the world share removes that inherited access too.
A few other things use share or invite links with their own rules: chat group invites, game room invites, game listing links, and entities, which have their own visibility controls — see Entity sharing & exporting.
Access levels
Section titled “Access levels”There are two levels, picked when you share:
| Level | Label in the app | What it allows |
|---|---|---|
| Viewer | Read only | Open and read, nothing else. |
| Editor | Read & Edit | Everything a viewer can, plus editing content. |
Only the owner can share, manage access, or delete something. Editors can’t re-share your work or transfer ownership.
Two ways to share
Section titled “Two ways to share”- Invite people directly — search for a username and grant access on the spot. Best for your regular group. See Collaborators & seats.
- Generate a share link — anyone with the link can claim access by opening it (they’ll need a PostRoll account). Best for one-off or wider sharing. See Share links.
Where shared things appear
Section titled “Where shared things appear”Everything shared with you is collected in
Shared with you (/app/shared), and
also appears in the shared tab of the matching library section.
