The table screen
The play area is one full-screen map with everything else floating over it. Here’s what each floating piece is and how to open it.
The GM Toolbar
Section titled “The GM Toolbar”A rounded dock at the top-centre of the screen. It’s the main tool picker — hover any button and its name appears underneath. Which buttons you get depends on your role: observers see four, players see a subset, GMs see all of them.
Typical contents: Select, Grid Options, Basemap Options, Fog of War, Lighting Tools, Scene Lighting, Measure Mode, Wall Tool, Drawing Tool, Add Token, VTT Settings, Help, Effect Tool, Height / 2.5D, Overlay Tiles, Scene Control and Save Scene.
Bars that float over the map
Section titled “Bars that float over the map”| Piece | Who sees it | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Observer Mode pill | Observers | Top-centre. A reminder that you’re watching, not playing. |
| Table audio — track name chip | Players and observers | Top-centre. Confirms your browser really is playing the GM’s broadcast. |
| Viewing as name badge | GM | Bottom-right, above the map controls. Amber, because the map isn’t showing you reality — see View as. |
| Combat Carousel | Everyone, during combat | Just below the toolbar. The turn order as a row of portraits — see The turn tracker. |
| Game Paused | Everyone | Full screen, while the GM has the table paused. |
Bottom-centre is kept clear on purpose: that’s where card resolution, results and your card hand appear, so nothing else parks there.
The map controls
Section titled “The map controls”Bottom-right: a Minimap with a tall column of view buttons beside it (zoom in, the current zoom as a percentage, zoom out, fit, centre). At the foot of that column is a chevron — click it to fold the cluster away, and click it again to bring it back. Full detail in Moving around the map.
It’s the same cluster you’ll find on boards, World Maps, the Map Foundry and the links graph.
GMs get three more buttons in a strip directly under the minimap:
| Button | What it opens |
|---|---|
| Eye | View as — render the map as a chosen player or token sees it (View as). Turns amber while a perspective is active. |
| Pause | Pause or resume the game for the whole table. Turns amber while paused. |
| Broadcast | Table audio — conduct what everyone hears (Table audio). |
All three are also on the canvas right-click menu, so you never have to travel to the corner mid-scene — which is also the fastest way to reach them if you’ve folded the cluster away.
The right-edge dock
Section titled “The right-edge dock”A round Panels button sits in the top-right corner. Hover over it (or click it) and a column of buttons fans out beneath it. Each one opens (or closes) a panel that slides in from the right edge:
Chat · GM · Card Stack · Assets · Companion · Actors · Widgets · Feed · Audio · Notifications
While a panel is open, the top button takes on that panel’s icon. Click it to close the panel, or click the panel’s own button in the column again.
The scene sidebar’s tabs
Section titled “The scene sidebar’s tabs”Open the GM button and a row of small icon tabs appears along the top of the panel:
| Tab | Who | What’s in it |
|---|---|---|
| Layers | GM | Show, hide and reorder the map’s layers. |
| Tokens | GM | Every token in the scene, with groups — see The token list & groups. |
| Scene audio | GM | Tracks attached to this scene. |
| Players | Everyone | Who’s here, and their roles. |
| Session | Everyone (in a room) | Session lifecycle, voice and video. |
| Game Log | Everyone (in a room) | The table’s roll and event history. |
| Actions | Everyone | Targeting and resolution panels. |
| Combat | Everyone | Initiative and the combatant list. |
| Status | Everyone | Conditions and resources for the selected token, plus its playable cards. |
| Console | GM | The command console. |
GMs open on Layers by default; everyone else opens on Players.
The GM Scene Control sheet
Section titled “The GM Scene Control sheet”GMs get one more panel: Scene Control in the toolbar slides a GM Scene Control sheet in from the left, for putting a different scene on the table. See Switching scenes.
