Legendary actions

A legendary monster gets a small pool of extra actions it can spend between other creatures’ turns. The tabletop tracks that pool for you: it reads the budget off the creature’s sheet when the fight starts, spends it as you play legendary cards, and refills it at the top of each round.

When a legendary creature joins a fight, the table looks at its sheet for a legendary-action count. If the sheet does not give a number but does list legendary actions, the creature gets three. A creature with neither gets no budget at all and is treated as an ordinary combatant.

The budget is set up when combat starts, and again whenever a legendary creature is added mid-fight.

Select the monster’s token and open the Status tab. The Cards panel header shows a chip reading Legendary 2/3, with one filled dot per action still available and a faded dot for each one spent — “Legendary actions remaining this round”.

Cards in that creature’s list that are legendary actions carry an amber badge reading 1 LA, 2 LA and so on — what the action costs. Press Play as usual and the cost comes out of the budget before the card resolves.

The Play button is greyed out when the creature cannot afford the action. Hover it for the reason:

  • “Not enough legendary actions (needs 2, has 1)” — the budget is too low this round.
  • “Legendary actions available only in combat” — the pool is a combat resource, so legendary cards cannot be played outside a fight.

At the start of every new round, every legendary creature in the fight goes back to a full budget. Nothing to click — advancing the turn past the end of the order does it.
