Cycle templates
The + New cycle dialog clones from one of four templates. Each is a sensible default — pick the closest fit and customise from there.
Standard Moon (28-day, 8 phases)

Period — 28 days (40,320 minutes).

Phases — 8 equal eighths:

When to use it: any setting with one or more moons. Build one cycle per moon — you can add as many cycles per world as you like. For a multi-moon setting, set each moon’s anchor point so the moons are out of phase with each other (otherwise they all line up).
Twice-Daily Tide (12-hour, 4 phases)
Section titled “Twice-Daily Tide (12-hour, 4 phases)”A tidal cycle with asymmetric phase fractions — high and low last roughly 15% each, rising and falling each take ~35%. Mimics real-world tide curves.

When to use it: coastal / seafaring / archipelago campaigns. Pair with a future Map integration to show high-tide-only causeways and flooded caves. For settings with one tide per day (rather than two), double the period to 24 hours.
Four Seasons (365-day)

When to use it: long-arc campaigns where weather, NPC schedules, and harvest cycles should shift by season. For non-365-day worlds, override the period to your year length.
For unequal seasons (e.g. “long winter, short summer”), edit the fractions after cloning. Just keep them summing to 1.
12-Month Festival Ring
Section titled “12-Month Festival Ring”One festival per month-equivalent — twelve equal phases over a year.
- Period — 365 days.
- Phases — 12 generic “Festival 1” through “Festival 12”,
each at fraction
1/12 ≈ 0.0833.
When to use it: settings with strong religious or civic calendars. Rename the phases to your festival names — “Lanternfall”, “Greengrass”, “Highharvestide”, etc.
For settings that pair festivals with named months in a calendar, align this cycle’s phase boundaries with month boundaries by setting its anchor point to your calendar’s Year 1, Day 1.
Customising a template
Section titled “Customising a template”After cloning:
- Change the period if your world’s day or year length differs.
- Edit each phase’s name / short / icon / colour.
- Adjust fractions for unequal phases.
- Set the anchor so a specific phase lines up with a specific in-world date. See Anchoring cycles to real events.
