Outposts

Outposts are community spaces inside PostRoll. Each Outpost has its own identity, members, chat channels, content feed, events board, and optionally a shop and supporter memberships.

Think of an Outpost as a small home for a play group, an artist’s followers, a publisher’s audience, or a fan community. Five flavours are available, all sharing the same underlying mechanics.

Game Table

GM home base for a play group — campaign management, scheduling, and LFP tools to find players for open seats.

Creator Studio

Artist, cartographer, or writer portfolio with a public shop and subscriber community.

Publisher

Product catalogue, broadcast feed, press kit, multi-staff support.

Community

Fan or system community — resource library, events-forward.

Guild

Creator collective with a shared shop and member roster.

The type drives onboarding, default settings, and which features are highlighted — but every Outpost has access to the same core feature set. You won’t be locked out of “publisher” features just because you picked “community” at creation.

  • Identity: name, slug, banner, tagline, tags, type.
  • Members & roles: reuses the same Discord-style roles system as PostRoll chat groups.
  • Chat channels: text channels with the full chat feature set.
  • Feed: posts, comments, reactions, polls, media.
  • Events board: scheduled events with RSVPs.
  • Shop: one-time digital product sales — see Selling products.
  • Membership tiers: Patreon-style supporter tiers with gated channels and content — see Membership tiers.
  • Paid events + game seats: ticketed RSVPs and per-player paid VTT sessions — see Selling event tickets and Selling paid game seats.

These are two separate settings, and hosts set them independently — a public Outpost can be invite-only, an unlisted one open to anyone with the link.

Visibility — who can see it:

  • Private: owner and members only. Doesn’t appear in the directory.
  • Unlisted: anyone with the link. Doesn’t appear in the directory.
  • Public: listed in the discovery directory. Anyone can find it.

Who can join — who can become a member: anyone, anyone who asks and gets approved, or invite only. Every Outpost starts invite only. See Joining an Outpost.

You can change both any time from your Outpost’s settings.
