Status, blocks, and DM safety
Custom status
Section titled “Custom status”Add free-form text + an optional emoji to your profile that shows in member popovers and avatar tooltips.
- Click your avatar in the top-left of the chat sidebar.
- Pick Set status.
- Type a short status, optionally pick an emoji, and choose how long it should last (15 minutes, an hour, until tomorrow, forever).
- Save.
Common uses: “In session 8-11pm”, “AFK”, a session-specific “Running combat 🎲”.
Statuses with a clear time auto-expire. Forever-statuses stay until you change them.
Block another user
Section titled “Block another user”Blocking masks the blocked user’s messages from your view in channels you share, and prevents them from DMing you.
- Find the user in any conversation. Right-click their avatar or open the member popover.
- Pick Block.
- Confirm.
Blocks are one-way: you blocking someone doesn’t stop them from seeing your messages, only stops them from reaching you.
Lift a block from Account → Blocked users.
DM permissions
Section titled “DM permissions”Currently, any signed-in PostRoll user can DM any other. A future Who can DM me preference will let you restrict this to group members or friends-only — until that ships, blocking specific users is the way to keep DMs from people you don’t want to hear from.
What blocking doesn’t do
Section titled “What blocking doesn’t do”- It doesn’t notify the blocked user. They won’t see “Aerin blocked you” anywhere.
- It doesn’t kick them out of shared groups. They still see your messages in shared channels — only the inverse view is masked.
- It doesn’t apply across worlds — blocks are account-level, so one block covers every group / DM.
