Keyboard shortcuts

A quick reference for the keyboard shortcuts that ship today. Most shortcuts are scoped to a specific view — they only fire when that view is focused.

Key Action
Esc Close any open dialog (create dialog, reveal dialog, day drawer).
Key Action
Space (hold) + drag Pan the viewport without changing zoom.

The canvas is otherwise mouse-driven — drag a region to zoom into it, Cmd / Ctrl + scroll to zoom about the cursor, or use the on-screen + / − / Fit buttons.

Key Action
Enter (in Go-to input) Resolve and apply the date.
Key Action
Tab / Shift-Tab Step between fields.
Enter Submit (when in the title or when buttons are focused).
Esc Cancel without saving.

The inspector is text-input-heavy; almost everything is mouse-driven. There’s no inspector-specific shortcut for “Save changes” beyond clicking the button.

A few that are mentioned in the design plan but not yet wired:

  • T — Jump to today on the canvas.
  • F — Focus to current era.
  • G — Open “Go to date” input.
  • N — New event at viewport center.

These will land in a polish pass.
