Stat blocks

A stat block puts a creature on the page in the layout you already know from the books — a D&D 5e-style bordered block, or a Daggerheart-style adversary panel — with its defences, ability scores, actions and features. Pull one straight from the built-in SRD, or type your own homebrew.

Adding one

Type /stat and pick one of two options:

• Stat block — the creature laid out inline on the page.
• Stat card — the same creature as an interactive card that tilts under your cursor and catches a holographic sheen.

Either one opens the Stat block dialog, which has two tabs so the form has room to breathe.

Filling it in

1. Options & preview. Choose the system (D&D 5e or Daggerheart), the style, and whether it shows as a block or a card. A live preview underneath updates as you go.

2. Start from the SRD (optional). On the same tab, search the built-in SRD for a monster or adversary and click a result — it fills the whole form for you. Skip this to build one from scratch.

3. Editor. Switch to the Editor tab for the full form: name, AC / HP / speed, the six ability scores (modifiers are worked out for you), and add-as-many-as-you-like lists for traits, actions, bonus actions, reactions, legendary and lair actions. For Daggerheart you get the tier line, the difficulty/thresholds/HP/stress banner, moves and fear features.

4. Insert. Give the creature a name — the Insert button stays disabled until you do — then insert it.

Tip

The preview lives on Options & preview and the fields on Editor — flip between the two tabs as you work. Everything you type carries across, and the preview reflects it the moment you switch back.

Styles

Three looks. Which you can choose follows the system:

• Classic D&D — the bordered, parchment-toned block (D&D 5e).
• Daggerheart Classic — the rounded adversary panel (Daggerheart).
• Modern — a brighter, rounded, card-like skin, for either system.

Block or card

The block sits inline like any other paragraph — the whole stat block, top to bottom.

The card is a normal, trading-card-sized version that tilts toward your pointer with a holographic sheen — nice for a signature villain. It has two sides: the front shows the at-a-glance summary (name, AC/HP/speed, ability scores and stat lines, or the Daggerheart stat banner), and the back is a scrollable panel with the long prose — traits, actions, features, moves. Use the round flip button in the card’s corner to turn it over.

It’s the same stat block either way; switch between block and card whenever you like (see below).

Editing it later

Hover the stat block for a small toolbar in its top corner:

• Palette — cycle the style (Classic ↔ Modern).
• Block / card — flip between the inline block and the card.
• Pencil — re-open the full dialog to edit any field.
• Bin — delete the block.

Daggerheart from the SRD

Caution

Importing a Daggerheart adversary from the SRD brings in its stat banner — tier, difficulty, thresholds, HP, stress and attack — but not its moves or fear features, which the SRD doesn’t include as separate, ready-to-drop-in values. Add those yourself on the Editor tab (the dialog reminds you).

Crediting the SRD

The built-in SRD material is licensed (Creative Commons for the D&D SRD, the Darrington Press Community Gaming License for Daggerheart). When you publish a wiki as a PDF or ebook, any SRD stat blocks you used are credited automatically on the book’s licence page — you don’t have to add anything. Stat blocks you wrote yourself carry no such notice. See Reference for the full licence texts.

Note

Stat blocks don’t appear inside the small pop-up you get when hovering a [[wikilink]] — that preview only shows text. Open the page to see the block.
