Lock an image so it can't be downloaded

Some images you use for a public showcase — or that you’re selling — are licensed so that people may look at them but not keep the file. A download lock enforces that: a locked image still renders wherever you place it, but viewers can’t right-click-save it, drag it to their desktop, copy its address, or hotlink it elsewhere, and it can’t be re-shared to the feed. Each viewer also sees a faint watermark with their own handle, so any leak is traceable.

A deterrent, not a vault

Anything shown on a screen can still be screenshotted or photographed — that’s true of a locked PDF too. The lock stops the easy ways to grab the actual file; it can’t stop a determined person from capturing what’s on their screen. Only use images you’re licensed to display this way.

Lock an image in a wiki page

1. Open the wiki page in edit mode and click the image to select it.

2. In the toolbar that appears above the image, click the lock icon.

3. That’s it — the image is now locked for everyone who views the page, including anyone who clones your world. Click the icon again to unlock.

Lock an image from your asset library

1. Go to Assets and select the image.

2. In the details panel on the right, turn on Download lock.

The lock lives on the asset itself, so it applies everywhere that image is used and travels with any clone of your world — and because you own the asset, nobody who clones it can turn the lock off.

What viewers can and can’t do

• Can: see the image exactly where you placed it.
• Can’t: right-click → Save, drag it out, “copy image address”, open the raw file URL, hotlink it on another site, or re-share it as a feed card.
• See: a subtle repeating watermark with their own account handle.

Note

Keep locked showcase images private (the default) rather than making them public. A locked private image is still fully visible inside a world people can open — you don’t need to make it public for viewers to see it, and keeping it private stops it appearing in other people’s asset pickers.
