Images

Pictures are what turn a wall of lore into somewhere you’d want to visit. The Image block handles the upload, the layout, and — if you want it — cutting the subject out of its background so your prose flows around the silhouette.

Adding an image

1. Type /image and pick Image. An upload panel appears in the page.
2. Either click Click to upload to pick a file, drag files onto the panel, choose Choose from library to reuse something you’ve already uploaded, or use Add from URL to pull one in from the web.
3. The panel shows each file’s progress and swaps itself for the finished picture.

You can drop up to 3 files at once, and each must be 5 MB or smaller. The panel says so: Maximum 3 files, 5MB each.

Caution

Drag-and-drop works onto the upload panel, not onto the page — insert /image first, then drop. Pasting an image straight into the body of the page won’t upload it either.

If a file is over the limit or the upload fails, the panel currently just sits there rather than telling you why. Check the file size first if nothing seems to happen.

The image toolbar

Click a picture and a toolbar appears above it.

Placement

• Image align left, Image align center, Image align right — the picture sits on its own line, nothing beside it.
• Wrap text right of image — the picture floats to the left and your prose runs down its right side.
• Wrap text left of image — the picture floats right, prose runs down its left.

Tip

The wrap labels describe where the text goes, not the picture. “Wrap text right of image” puts the picture on the left.

Shape wrap

• Shape-wrap text right of image and Shape-wrap text left of image make prose hug the actual outline of the subject rather than a rectangle — lovely for a standing NPC portrait beside their write-up. Both are greyed out until you’ve removed the background (see below).
• Shape padding appears once you’re in a shape wrap: a slider from 0 to 3 rem that sets how much breathing room there is between the silhouette and the words. It starts at 0.5 rem.

Appearance

• Rounded corners — softens the corners of the picture.
• Caption — adds a caption line under the image and drops your cursor into it (Add a caption…). Leave it empty and click away and it disappears again. Captions are hidden while an image is in a shape wrap.
• Alt text — describes the picture for anyone reading with a screen reader. Write a sentence that says what matters about the image (“A hand-drawn map of the Salt Crown coastline”), not what the file is called. If the picture is purely decorative — a divider, a texture, a flourish — tick Decorative instead, which tells screen readers to skip it entirely. A caption and alt text do different jobs: the caption is for everyone, the alt text stands in for the picture.

Background

• Remove background — cuts the subject out, right there in your browser. It takes a few seconds and shows its progress; when it’s done you’ll see Background removed. Shape alignment unlocked. and the picture switches to a shape wrap.
• Show original background / Hide background (show cut-out) — flip between the cut-out and the untouched original. The cut-out shows by default once you’ve removed the background.

File actions

• Download image — saves the picture to your computer.
• Replace — swaps in a different file, keeping the block where it is. Alignment and shape settings don’t carry over.
• Delete — removes the block.

Storage

Every picture you upload counts against your plan’s total storage:

The 5 MB-per-image cap in the editor applies on every plan — a bigger plan buys you more room, not bigger pictures.
