Presets
Presets are saved snapshots of the Foundry’s full settings. Hit Presets in the top bar to open the gallery.
Browsing presets
Section titled “Browsing presets”The Presets dialog opens with thumbnails of every preset available to you — system presets first, then your own. The system presets ship with the app and are read-only. They span every map kind and every style — continents, worlds, archipelagos, river valleys, coasts, mountains, land-locked interiors, and zoomed-in regions — so there’s a strong starting point for whatever you’re building.
Each tile shows a small render and a name. Click any tile to apply it.
Applying a preset
Section titled “Applying a preset”-
Click Presets in the top bar.
-
Browse the gallery. Thumbnails render lazily the first time you open the dialog.
-
Click a preset.
Applying a preset replaces every relevant setting — kind, style, sliders, kingdom controls, coastline detail, palette overrides — with the preset’s values. Your current seed is kept, so you can immediately hit Generate (or Reroll) to see your existing world remade in the preset’s mould.
Saving your own
Section titled “Saving your own”Once you’ve got a combination of sliders and style you like:
-
Click Save preset in the top bar.
-
Give it a name. The description is optional — useful as a note to future you about what the preset is for.
-
Click Save.
The preset gets a thumbnail rendered the next time you open the gallery, and it appears alongside the system presets.
What presets save
Section titled “What presets save”The full settings object:
- Kind, style, aspect ratio, detail.
- Every terrain / climate / aesthetic slider.
- Kingdom settings — render mode, border alignment, count, compactness, smoothness, opacity, colouring.
- Coastline fidelity and Coastal features toggle.
- Palette overrides (hillshade strength, ocean shallow / deep, land tint, forest / mountain / coast colours).
- Viewport pan / zoom / mountain obliqueness.
Presets do NOT save:
- The current seed — applying a preset doesn’t change your seed.
- Painted regions (Paint tool) — those are seed-bound.
- Decorations (Decorate tool) — those persist with the scene, not the preset.
Privacy
Section titled “Privacy”Your saved presets are private to your account. The system presets are visible to everyone but only the app team can change them.
Related
Section titled “Related”- Save as scene — different concept. A scene saves the rendered map as a real world-map. A preset saves the recipe for the map so you can re-render at a new seed.
- Variations — useful right after applying a preset: see nine alternative seeds at once.
