Saving & rewinding
Two different things get called “undo” at a table. One is “save where we are now, in case”. The other is “take us back to before that happened”. The tabletop has both.
Save Scene — the checkpoint
Section titled “Save Scene — the checkpoint”Click Save Scene on the toolbar (the green disk, GMs only). The scene is written down as it stands — tokens, walls, fog, lights, shapes, effects — and you get a confirmation reading “Scene saved (v12)”, where the number is the new checkpoint version.
Rewinding — previewing an earlier state
Section titled “Rewinding — previewing an earlier state”Rewind lives in the Console tab of the scene sidebar, alongside the activity feed.
- Open the sidebar (the GM button on the right edge) and go to the Console tab.
- Hover any entry in the feed that has a version number — a clock icon appears. Click it.
- An amber banner appears at the top of the panel reading “Previewing v42 of 68”, and the map shows how things stood at that moment.
Nothing is committed while you preview. Click another entry’s clock to scrub to a different moment, or Resume Live to snap straight back to the present. The command input is disabled while a preview is up.
Revert — actually going back
Section titled “Revert — actually going back”From a preview, click Revert to Here in the amber banner. You’ll be asked to confirm, with a count of what you’re about to lose — “Discard 26 events?”. Click Confirm to go through with it, or Cancel to stay in preview.
After a revert, everyone’s screen updates automatically and play continues from the reverted state.
Which one do I want?
Section titled “Which one do I want?”| Situation | Do this |
|---|---|
| “Let’s not lose this setup” | Save Scene |
| “What did the map look like before the fireball?” | Rewind (preview), then Resume Live |
| “That whole sequence was a mistake, wind it back” | Rewind to the point, then Revert to Here |
| “My screen looks out of date” | Nothing here — see staying in sync |
