Appearance and layout
Chat has a small set of preferences that are yours alone — they follow you across every conversation and every group, and nobody else at the table sees them change.
Open chat preferences
Section titled “Open chat preferences”- Find the user panel at the bottom of the conversation list — your avatar, name and status.
- Click the sliders button (Preferences).
- Changes apply as you make them; there is nothing to save.
Restore defaults at the bottom of the sheet puts everything back.
Appearance
Section titled “Appearance”Density
Section titled “Density”Chat keeps its bubble layout in both settings — density changes spacing and sizes, never where things sit.
- Cozy (default) — roomier bubbles and larger portraits.
- Compact — tighter spacing between messages and smaller portraits, so more of the table talk fits on screen. Handy on a laptop with the details panel open, or for a busy play-by-post channel.
Text size
Section titled “Text size”A slider from 85% to 125% in 5% steps, with − / + buttons and a live Aa sample. It scales the message text only — names, timestamps and controls stay the same size, so a larger setting never crowds the chrome.
Time format
Section titled “Time format”- Auto (default) — whatever your device’s locale uses.
- 12-hour —
3:07 PM. - 24-hour —
15:07.
This applies to the time on each nameplate, the time that appears when you hover a grouped message, and the full date-and-time on a selected message.
Layout
Section titled “Layout”Members column
Section titled “Members column”On wide screens the members list sits in its own column beside the conversation. Turn it off here — or with the Members button in the conversation header — to give the conversation the full width. The button toggles the column back on.
On narrower screens there is no column: the same Members button opens the details panel on its Members tab instead.
Behaviour
Section titled “Behaviour”Show avatars
Section titled “Show avatars”The portrait ring that peeks above the first message of a run. Turn it off for a flatter feed; the nameplate with the sender’s name and time stays, so you can always tell who said what.
