Roll tables
A roll table is a weighted list of entries — tavern rumours, random encounters, treasure drops. PostRoll stores them as entities in your worlds, and chat lets you roll on them and post the result as a card. Tables you own (or that live in worlds shared with you) are available in every chat — DMs, channels, linked or unlinked.
Roll on a table
Section titled “Roll on a table”/roll-table tavern_rumours/rt tavern_rumours # alias/roll-table random_encountersThe card shows the rolled entry with its description and any linked entities. A Re-roll button on the card runs the table again in place.
Inline-roll affordance
Section titled “Inline-roll affordance”If you reference a roll table as a [[wikilink]] chip, the chip
renders with a small Roll button next to it:
We could check the [[tavern_rumours]] tonight.Clicking the button runs the table from the chip and posts a card in the same channel. Saves typing the slash command.
Where roll tables come from
Section titled “Where roll tables come from”Create them as entities in any of your worlds. From the entities
list pick Roll table as the type and fill in the entries
table; see the entities docs for the full creation flow. Once
saved, the table is rollable from any chat you have open without
any further linking — /roll-table searches across every world
you can see.
You can also build a table in the Roll Tables tool, on the Generators shelf of Widgets, and press Save to a world. It becomes a roll table in the world you choose, ready to roll here. See Generators.
Name conflicts across worlds
Section titled “Name conflicts across worlds”Names are searched across all your worlds simultaneously. If two of your worlds happen to use the same table name, PostRoll refuses to roll on an ambiguous match and shows the candidates so you can disambiguate by full name or by alias. Picking a unique name (or adding aliases per world) avoids the friction.
