Page templates
If every NPC page in your world has the same six headings, build it once and reuse it. Any wiki page can become a template.
Saving a page as a template
Section titled “Saving a page as a template”- Right-click the page in the tree and choose More options….
- Click Create Template.
- Give it a name — it defaults to the page’s title.
- Click Save.
The template captures the page’s contents as they stand, so tidy the page up first: strip out the specifics, keep the headings, the table skeletons, the empty meters.
Applying a template
Section titled “Applying a template”- Open the page you want to apply it to.
- Right-click it, choose More options…, then Apply Template.
- In the Templates dialog, set Apply mode.
- Hover a template and click Apply. Preview shows you the contents first.
Apply modes
Section titled “Apply modes”- Replace page content — the template becomes the page. Anything already there is gone.
- Append before existing content — the template goes in at the top, your writing stays below it.
- Append after existing content — your writing stays put, the template lands underneath.
The two tabs
Section titled “The two tabs”- Your Templates — the ones you’ve saved.
- Default Templates — the ones that ship with PostRoll, available to everyone.
Deleting a template
Section titled “Deleting a template”Hover a template in Your Templates and click Delete. It goes for good; pages you already applied it to are untouched.
Good templates to build
Section titled “Good templates to build”- NPC sheet — appearance, voice, wants, secret, hooks, relationships.
- Location page — a cover image slot, who runs it, what’s here, rumours, and an Index block listing subpages.
- Session notes — date heading, what happened, loot, threads left dangling, a to-do list for next time.
- Faction file — leadership, holdings, rivals, current goal, a meter for the party’s standing.
