Dictation
Dictation turns your speech into typed text in the composer. Useful for long messages, accessibility, or in-character monologues you’d rather speak than type.
Toggle dictation
Section titled “Toggle dictation”Click the microphone icon next to the composer. The icon turns red while dictation is active and a small indicator pulses to show it’s listening. Click again to stop.
While dictation is on, what you say appears as interim text (subdued styling) until your sentence finishes; then it lands as final text in the editor. You can keep typing manually between dictated phrases — the two paths interleave fine.
Cancel mid-stream
Section titled “Cancel mid-stream”Press Escape to cancel the current dictation pass. Any finalised text stays in the editor; interim text is cleared.
Language
Section titled “Language”Dictation uses your browser’s speech recognition engine. Set your preferred language in Account → Preferences → Dictation language — PostRoll passes that hint to the engine.
Browser support
Section titled “Browser support”Dictation works in browsers with built-in speech recognition (Chrome, Edge, Safari). Firefox doesn’t include a speech engine — the mic button stays hidden there.
