Members tab

The Members tab in the conversation details panel lists every member with their presence dot, role badges, and quick actions.

In a group channel the tab shows everyone in the group, not just people who have explicitly joined the channel — the visibility model is “any group member can read this channel,” so the roster follows that. DMs only show their explicit participants.

For each member:

  • Avatar + presence dot (green / amber / grey).
  • Username and any custom status.
  • Role badges — the highest role determines the colour; the badge text is the role name.
  • Hover popover with profile, “Send DM”, and (for moderators) member-management actions.

Sort by:

  • Presence (online first) — default.
  • Name alphabetically.
  • Role — top-of-hierarchy first.

Filter the visible list by typing in the search input at the top of the tab.

For groups you have Manage invites permission in, an Add member button at the top of the tab opens the invite generator. See Inviting people.

For DMs, any participant can hit Add member to grow the conversation into a multi-party DM — you don’t need to be the person who started it. The new member’s avatar appears in the header alongside the existing participants and they can see the full message history. (No notification or “accept” step: DMs are treated as collectively owned by everyone in them.)

Hovering any member opens their popover:

  • Send DM — opens (or creates) a 1:1 DM with that user. Re-uses an existing DM if one already exists between just the two of you.
  • View profile — full profile card.
  • Roles — assign / unassign roles (mods with Manage roles).
  • Report user — flags the member’s overall behavior in this group. Only visible inside group channels; see Reporting and moderation.
  • Block — see Status, blocks, and DM safety.
  • Remove from conversation (admins only).
