Working Offline
Game night doesn’t always come with Wi-Fi. Save for offline keeps a whole world on your device — wiki, maps, timeline, entities, boards, and the link graph — readable and editable with no connection.
Saving a world for offline
Section titled “Saving a world for offline”Two places, same result:
- On the worlds page, expand a world card, click Details, and choose Save for offline.
- Inside a world, tap the cloud icon in the World Hub’s top bar.
PostRoll downloads the world’s pages, maps, timeline, entities, boards, and images. You’ll see a count when it finishes. Saved worlds are listed under Settings → Offline — see Save for Offline & Syncing for managing them.
Using a world offline
Section titled “Using a world offline”When your connection drops, a banner appears with Browse offline worlds — it opens your saved worlds in the familiar hub layout:
- Wiki — read, edit, and create pages (images included)
- Atlas — open your maps and edit pins, regions, paths, and labels; the world’s boards are here too (viewable — board editing needs a connection)
- Timeline — browse and edit events; dates are finalised when you sync
- Entities & Links — browse your cast and the relationship graph
Anything not saved for offline shows a clear “needs a connection” notice instead of failing silently. Live features (the virtual tabletop, voice) always need a connection.
Syncing back
Section titled “Syncing back”When you’re back online, PostRoll syncs automatically and shows a summary (“3 offline changes synced”). If something you edited offline was also changed elsewhere, nothing is lost — you’ll be asked to choose which version to keep: Keep both, Keep mine, or Keep theirs.
If an edit couldn’t be saved offline (for example on a page you hadn’t saved), it’s kept as a local draft and offered back to you the next time you open that page.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Your saved worlds follow your account — save a world on your laptop and it downloads on your phone too.
- Signing out removes offline data from that device (you’ll be warned if unsynced changes would be lost).
- Re-save (or just sync) a world after big campaign updates to refresh what’s on the device.
