The character builder
The character builder walks you from a blank page to a playable hero, one cinematic step at a time. Every choice — species, class, scores, gear — updates a live sheet preview as you go.
Starting a character
Section titled “Starting a character”-
On the Actors page, select + Create Actor.
-
Choose your game system and pick Character as the type, then a mode: Full character for the complete journey, or Quick character for just the essentials.
-
Work through the steps. For a D&D 5e character they are:
- Identity — name, pronouns, portrait, and theme.
- Species — swipe through the species cards and pick one.
- Class — choose from the twelve classes.
- Ability scores — spend a 27-point budget across the six scores (minimum 8, maximum 15 before species bonuses, which are applied and shown for you).
- Background — the life they led before adventuring; grants two skills, a feature, and a starting kit.
- Spells and Prepare spells — appear only for casters.
- Equipment — pick your starting gear, or roll for gold.
- Bio — alignment, personality, ideals, bonds, and flaws.
- Review — look it over, then bring them to life.
Steps marked optional can be skipped and finished later — the builder saves your draft as you go.
The finished sheet
Section titled “The finished sheet”Your new character opens on their own page. The sheet is split into tabs: Sheet for scores, saves, skills, senses, defences, movement, and spellcasting; Cards for actions, spells, inventory, and features; Journal for notes; and Activity for recent rolls and changes. A Conditions row tracks anything currently affecting the character — chips you can add and clear at the table.
Tap any ability, save, or skill to roll it. Gear and abilities live as cards — see Cards on the character sheet for equipping, attuning, and rests.
Editing later
Section titled “Editing later”Reopen any character in the builder to change choices or level up — your attached cards and play state come along. Sharing works like the rest of PostRoll: the Shared Actors tab shows characters others have shared with you.
