Person
Entities
An entity is a canonical thing in your world — a Person, Place, Faction, Item, Event — that other content can point at. The same Aldren can show up as a wiki page, an actor sheet, a node on a family-tree board, and a pin on your world map, and all four point at the same Person entity. Edit Aldren’s summary once and every place that references him stays in sync.
Entities are entirely opt-in. A wiki article called Session 12 Notes or a sticky note on a planning board has no business being an entity, and PostRoll won’t push you to promote either. The layer exists to be useful when it’s useful, and quiet when it’s not.
Built-in types
Section titled “Built-in types”Every world ships with these nine, ready to use:
Place
Faction
Organization
Item
Event
Deity
Creature
Concept
If your setting needs something different — Cult, Tavern, Patron, Dynasty — you can define a custom type.
When to use entities
Section titled “When to use entities”Promote to an entity when:
- The same thing turns up on multiple surfaces (a wiki page AND an actor AND a map pin).
- You want structured relationships (“parent of”, “ruler of”, “allied with”) visible across pages.
- It deserves a public link to share outside the app.
Stay plain when:
- It’s session prep, GM-only notes, or a one-off list.
- Nothing else is going to link to it.
- You’re brainstorming and not ready to commit.
If you’re weighing this up for a character in particular, read Actors vs entities — a character sheet and a world record are different things, and you often want both.
Where to find them
Section titled “Where to find them”The world’s entity list lives at Worlds → <your world> → Entities. From there:
- + New entity creates one from scratch.
- World timeline opens an aggregated view of every entity’s events.
- Manage types opens the custom-type editor.
Entity affordances also appear inline — an Entity card in the right rail on wiki pages, actor sheets, scenes, boards, and world-map shapes lets you promote or link without leaving the surface.
