Managing players mid-session

The Players tab in the scene sidebar is your roster for the session. Open the sidebar with the GM button on the right edge of the screen, then pick the people icon.

The header reads In Session with a count, and everyone present is grouped under Game Master, Players and Observers, with a green dot for online, their avatar, their name (yours marked (you)) and a role badge.

Role On the tabletop
Game Master Everything. All the map-building tools, scene control, saving and rewinding, and this panel.
Player Move their tokens, draw, measure, place effects and lights, roll dice, add tokens. Not the GM-only map tools (grid, basemap, fog, walls, height, overlay tiles, scene lighting).
Observer Watch, select, measure, and open settings and help. Nothing else — an observer can follow the game and check a distance, but can’t change anything.
  1. Hover the person’s row and click the three dots on the right.
  2. Pick one:
    • Promote to GM — full GM tooling. Use this for a co-GM.
    • Set as Player — the normal seat at the table.
    • Set as Observer — read-only, for a spectator or a player who’s stepped away.

The change takes effect immediately — for them and for everyone else’s copy of the panel. Nobody has to refresh or rejoin.

The same menu has two red options at the bottom:

  • Kick from Room — removes them from the room. They can be invited back.
  • Ban from Room — removes them and stops them coming back.
  • You can’t act on your own row — the menu only appears on other people.
  • The panel lists people currently in the play area, not everyone with access to the room. For the full membership list, see rooms.
