A timeline in PostRoll is more than a list of dates. It’s a living
continuity system for your world — every battle, treaty, prophecy,
clue, and session maps onto one canonical axis, and a single workspace
gives you eight ways to look at it.
You can write a year-precise event for King Aldren signs the Treaty
of Three Crowns in the same timeline as a fuzzy Something terrible
happened during the Sundering Age, a session-anchored The party
arrived at Vael, and a floating When the players reach the Hollow
Saint. Each one renders correctly in the right view; everything sorts
and filters together.
Timelines are entirely opt-in — you can record one event in the
implicit Gregorian calendar and never touch the calendar / cycles /
mystery features. They scale up as your world does.
Open any world and click Timeline in the world navigation. The
URL is /app/worlds/<your world>/timeline. From there, the
Settings tab lets you build calendars and cycles, and the
Export dropdown lets you produce Markdown for hand-out or archive.
The Timeline tab on each entity’s detail page shows a per-entity
slice of the same data — see Entity timelines.
