Selling products in your shop
Your Outpost’s shop lets you sell digital downloads — adventure modules, art bundles, character packs, sound effects, anything file-based. Buyers pay through Stripe; PostRoll takes a small platform fee; the rest lands in your Stripe balance and pays out to your bank on Stripe’s standard schedule.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- A Booster or Collector subscription (Outpost ownership tier).
- Stripe Connect set up and ready — see Connecting Stripe.
- Monetisation enabled on your Outpost (the toggle in the monetisation panel).
Without all three, the Shop tab still appears but the Add product button is hidden.
Create a product
Section titled “Create a product”- Open your Outpost → click the Shop tab.
- Click Add product.
- Fill in the basics:
- Name — what buyers see in the shop list.
- Slug — auto-derived from the name. Used in the product URL.
- Description — what’s in it, what system / format / page count, credits.
- Cover image URL — recommended, shown on the product card.
- Price and currency — pick the currency you’re paid out in (USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, CAD, NZD, JPY, SGD, SEK, NOK, DKK, CHF).
- Click Create draft. You’ll land on the product’s edit page.
A product starts in Draft status. Drafts are invisible to anyone who isn’t a moderator of the Outpost — buyers can’t see or purchase them yet.
Upload the files
Section titled “Upload the files”- On the product’s edit page, scroll to the Files section.
- Click Upload file, pick a file from your computer.
- Wait for the upload to finish — uploads stream directly to PostRoll’s storage and don’t pass through our servers.
- Repeat for every file you want to include in the bundle.
Each file shows its filename + size in the list. Click Remove to delete one — this also wipes the underlying file from storage.
Add gallery images
Section titled “Add gallery images”Beneath the cover image is a Gallery images section where you can attach up to 24 supporting images — screenshots, sample pages, behind-the-scenes shots, alt covers. Drop, paste, or pull from your asset library; reorder with the arrows; remove with the trash icon.
The gallery renders as a carousel under the cover on the product detail page. Buyers can click through it before purchase, which typically lifts conversion on visual products (art bundles, maps, adventure modules) substantially.
Publish
Section titled “Publish”When the product is ready, click Publish in the top-right of the edit page. The product is now:
- Listed in your Outpost’s Shop tab.
- Open for purchase by anyone who can see the Outpost.
You can flip back to Draft (click Unpublish) any time — the product disappears from the public shop but is preserved with all its files and prior sales intact.
Editing a published product
Section titled “Editing a published product”Most fields can be edited live — name, description, cover image, price. Changes take effect immediately for new purchases.
Past purchases aren’t affected: anyone who bought the previous version keeps access to whatever files were on the product at the time of purchase.
If you swap out the underlying files (remove old, upload new), past buyers get the new files on their next download. Most creators ship “v2” as a separate file rather than replacing v1, so buyers have a clean version history.
Archive
Section titled “Archive”Archiving takes a product permanently off sale. Existing buyers keep their downloads. Use this for products you’re retiring.
To archive: edit page → Archive button (top-right).
You can unarchive by switching back to Draft → Publish.
Pricing currencies
Section titled “Pricing currencies”Pick the currency you want to be paid in. Stripe converts buyer payments into your currency at their FX rate when the country doesn’t match.
We currently support: USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, CAD, NZD, JPY, SGD, SEK, NOK, DKK, CHF.
The currency is locked once you set it — to change it, archive the product and create a fresh one.
Platform fee
Section titled “Platform fee”PostRoll takes 10% with a $0.30 minimum as an application fee on every sale. The remainder lands in your Stripe balance; Stripe pays that out to your bank on the standard 2-7-day schedule for your country.
You can see your sales totals, refunds, and top products on your Outpost’s Analytics dashboard — open the Shop tab and click Dashboard. The Stripe dashboard linked from your monetisation panel is the source of truth for money — balance, payouts, individual transaction breakdowns.
Refunds
Section titled “Refunds”You have two paths to refund a buyer:
- In-app refund button (recommended). Open the product’s Sales page, find the purchase in the Recent purchases list, and click Refund. We issue a full refund through Stripe — the buyer is made whole (charge + platform fee), the connected account’s payout is reversed, and the buyer’s access is revoked automatically.
- Stripe dashboard (manual). Refund the payment under Payments in your Stripe dashboard. PostRoll picks the refund up via webhook within ~2 seconds and applies the same access changes as the in-app path.
Refund behaviour:
- Full refund → buyer’s access is revoked. For file products they lose the downloads.
- Partial refund → access is preserved (used for VAT-only refunds and similar partials).
Refunds for cloned content (worlds / scenes / boards)
Section titled “Refunds for cloned content (worlds / scenes / boards)”Once a buyer has claimed their cloned copy, the in-app Refund button is blocked by default. The reasoning: the buyer has an editable copy of your content in their library, so refunding without revocation would leave them with both the goods and their money back. PostRoll never deletes a buyer’s clone — they may have edited it heavily and that work is theirs.
If you still want to issue the refund (typically as a support gesture), the in-app dialog asks you to confirm a second time:
This buyer has already claimed their cloned content. Refundingwill leave them with the clone AND their money back.
Proceed anyway?Picking OK routes the refund through with the override; picking Cancel backs out. Either way, no clone is destroyed.
Notifications
Section titled “Notifications”When someone buys your product you get an in-app notification: “X bought ‘Product Name’ from your shop”. The buyer gets a “Your purchase is ready to download” notification.
Tax & 1099-K
Section titled “Tax & 1099-K”You’re the merchant of record for sales through your Outpost. We take a platform fee; you collect the rest including any applicable tax. Stripe Tax can be enabled on your Connect account to handle VAT / sales tax automatically — see Connecting Stripe → Payouts & taxes.
In the US, Stripe issues 1099-K forms directly to you at year-end if you cross the IRS thresholds.
