Insert emoji into a message

Section titled “Insert emoji into a message”

Type : followed by the emoji’s name. A list pops up showing matches from the standard set. Enter picks; the colon-syntax is replaced with the actual emoji character.

If your group has uploaded custom emoji, those appear above the standard set in the same popover. Picking one inserts an inline image scaled to emoji size.

You can also open the full emoji grid from the + button next to the composer — click it and choose Emoji. (The same menu holds GIF, Sticker, Clip, Meme, and Image or video.) Editing a message keeps the emoji picker too: it sits at the left of the edit box’s own row of controls.

React to a message

  1. Hover over a message — a small floating row of common reactions appears above the bubble.
  2. Click one to react. Click again to remove.
  3. To pick something else, click the + in the same row to open the full picker.

Reactions stack as pills under the message. Each pill shows the emoji, up to three reactor avatars, and an overflow count if more than three people reacted. Click the pill to see who reacted; the pill pops briefly when its count goes up.

Custom group emoji

Custom emoji are scoped to a group. Members upload .png / .gif files at Group settings → Emoji, then anyone in the group can use them by name (:tavern:, :dragonseal:).
