Fonts & curved names

The names the generator invents — kingdoms, mountain ranges, rivers, and towns — carry the same typography the scene label editor has: a real font picker and text that bends along the feature it labels. What you set here shows in the Foundry preview and in the saved scene, in the actual fonts.

  1. Open the Build tool and expand Label typography.
  2. For each group — Regions & kingdoms, Mountain ranges, Rivers, and Towns & callouts — pick a font, or leave it on the map style’s default face.
  3. Toggle Curve to bend a group’s names along their feature (mountain ranges and rivers curve by default; kingdom names read straight across the territory).
  4. Toggle Outline to show or hide the halo behind the letters.

Want a single kingdom in an old-world blackletter while the rest stay plain? Set it per-name in the feature editor:

  1. Open the Decorate tool and turn on Edit features.
  2. Select a kingdom’s name chip.
  3. In the inspector, pick a font, toggle Curve, or toggle Outline for just that name. Leave the font on match style to follow the group default.

Per-name choices ride along with your other feature edits, so they undo together and clear if you re-roll the map.

A name only curves when the feature is big enough to fit it — a short river or a small range shows its name straight rather than jamming the letters into a tight bend. Turn Outline off for a cleaner look on light maps, or leave it on so names stay readable over forests and hills.
