Receiving a gift

Someone bought you something on PostRoll and sent you a link. Here’s what to expect when you open it.

The link opens a card showing who sent it, the product’s name and cover art, any message they wrote you, the shop it came from, and what it normally costs.

  1. Click Claim your gift.
  2. Not signed in? You’ll see Sign in to claim your gift instead. Signing up is free, and the link brings you straight back to the gift.
  3. You’ll see Claimed — it’s in your library, with buttons to Open my library or View product.

From there it behaves like anything you bought yourself — see Your purchases.

Instead of the claim button, the page may show one of these:

  • This gift has already been claimed — someone (possibly you, on another account) has taken it. Check My purchases → Gifts while signed in; if it isn’t there, ask the sender.
  • This gift link has expired — gifts don’t wait forever. A bought gift’s link stays live for a year; a complimentary copy from a creator lasts 90 days. The sender can arrange a new one.
  • This gift was refunded and is no longer available — the purchase behind it was refunded, so there’s nothing to claim.
  • This gift is no longer available — the sender or the creator withdrew it.
  • Gift not found — the link isn’t valid. Check for a truncated URL (email clients love to break long links) and ask the sender to resend it.

Clicking Claim can also tell you:

  • This gift is addressed to a different account — sign in as the account it was sent to.
  • You already own this — no need to claim; it’s in your library already.
  • You can’t claim a gift you gave — send the link on to the person you bought it for.
  • Too many attempts — wait a minute and try again.

Paid products carry a Buy as a gift link under the buy button. Enter the recipient’s username or email, add an optional message, and pay as usual. Your sent gifts — with a copyable claim link for any that are still unclaimed — live under My purchases → Gifts.
