Getting on the table

The tabletop lives inside a room. Open the room, press into its play area, and you land on the same live map as everyone else at the table.

Role What you can do
GM Everything — build the map, move any token, run combat, and control what the table sees
Player Move the tokens you control, roll dice, target, play your character’s cards, and ping the map
Observer Watch. Observers see the table live but cannot move anything or take actions

Your role comes from the room, not from the map — see Rooms & sessions. Observers get a Observer Mode badge at the top of the screen, and only the Select and Measure tools.

If the GM changes your role mid-session it takes effect straight away — you don’t need to rejoin.

  • “Room not found.” — the link is wrong, or the room was deleted.
  • “You don’t have access to this room” — you need an invitation from the GM. Ask them to invite you, then reopen the link.

A room can be live before there’s a map on the table. Until the GM chooses one, players see a waiting message; the GM sees buttons to Select Scene or Create Scene.

When the GM switches scenes later, everyone’s screen fades to black and back with the new map — that’s expected, not a glitch. See Switching scenes.
