Game log

Every room has a Game Log channel that runs as a single shared timeline of what happened at the table. Dice rolls land here automatically, and you can post free-form messages alongside them — useful for narrating outcomes, calling out who’s up, or recording what a roll was for.

The Game Log channel is created with the room. You can read it from anywhere chat is available, and there’s a focused view inside the play surface so you don’t have to break flow to glance at it.

  • Inside a room while playing: open the right-hand sidebar and click the Game Log tab (the dice icon, only visible when you’re in a room).
  • From the chat sidebar: open the room’s group in chat and pick the Game Log channel.

Both views show the same channel and behave the same way — same look, same composer, same reactions and replies.

  • Dice rolls rolled inside /app/rooms/<id>/play post to the Game Log as soon as the dice settle. The roll renders as the same toast-style card you saw on screen — title, total, individual die results, optional badge.
  • Posts you type in the Game Log composer save normally with your name and avatar.

Dice rolls outside a room — say from the world map dice panel — show on screen and animate, but don’t write to any game log because there’s no room context.

  1. Open the Game Log channel (either via the sidebar in /play or via the chat sidebar).
  2. Type into the composer at the bottom and press Enter.

Posts are full chat messages: edit, delete, react, reply. They’re interleaved with dice rolls in chronological order.

Everyone in the room sees rolls and posts in real time. Dice rolls broadcast over the same socket as the rest of chat, so other players’ clients receive them and show them in the Game Log without any reload.

Anyone who’s a non-banned member of the room can post. There’s no GM-only gate — the Game Log is intentionally a shared scratchpad. If you want a GM-private record, use the GM Notes channel instead — see Members and roles for who can see it.

The Game Log doesn’t pause when a session ends. Dice and posts work any time — useful for prep rolls, schedule chatter, post-session summaries. If you only want “during a session” entries, filter by date range against your session timestamps.

Dice didn’t post to the Game Log. Make sure you rolled while inside /app/rooms/<id>/.... Rolls outside a room are local-only by design. If you were in the room and still got nothing, reload — your client may not have picked up the room’s Game Log channel yet.

The Game Log tab isn’t in the sidebar. It only shows when you’re inside a campaign room. Scenes opened directly (without a room) show only the scene tabs.

Other players can’t see my rolls. They might not be members of the room yet. Check your members and roles — click the player-count chip in the room’s top bar, or the Manage pill on the Party panel in the Overview tab.

  • Live sessions — start a session to share voice and persistent transcripts alongside the game log
  • Transcripts — a written record of what’s said in the same room
  • Rolling together — how dice reach everyone else at the table
