Voice controls

Everything about how you’re in voice lives in the voice dock on the left edge of the map. The top row is the controls; the menu holds the rest.

Button Does Key
Mic Mute / unmute. In push-to-talk mode it’s a hold-to-talk button instead. V
Camera Camera on / off. Off by default when you join — video is opt-in. C
Share screen Share a window, tab or screen with the table (with its sound, if you allow it).
Devices, talk mode, noise suppression, self-view, tile size, deafen, device check, participants.
Leave Hang up. Voice keeps going for everyone else.

Keys work whenever you’re in voice and not typing in a text box. They’re listed with the rest of the table’s shortcuts under Help → Keyboard shortcuts.

Under ⋯ → Talk, switch from Voice activity (your mic opens when you speak) to Push to talk. Your mic is then muted until you hold V — or whatever you bind it to with Change: any key, or a side mouse button. Some keys are refused because the table already uses them. Releasing the key keeps transmitting for a fraction of a second so the end of your word isn’t clipped, and letting go of the window always releases.

On a touchscreen, the mic button itself is the hold-to-talk button.

Q, or ⋯ → Deafen. You stop hearing the table and your mic mutes too. An amber Deafened pill sits in the dock until you undeafen; unmuting also undeafens.

The ready check picks your microphone, camera and speakers the first time. Later, has a picker for each (the speaker picker only appears in browsers that support it), and Device check… opens the full check again with a level meter, a camera preview and a Test tone.

Noise suppression is on by default where it’s available. If you’re in a noisy room and people still hear it, check it’s on under .

Click a face or an avatar in the dock (or the on a row in the Players tab) for a Volume slider. It only changes what you hear, and it’s remembered for that person.

  • Receive video off under turns the call into voice only for you — no incoming video at all.
  • Show my own camera off hides your self-view (you still send video).
  • Tile size picks S / M / L faces in the dock.
  • “Tap to enable audio” — your browser blocked sound until you interact. Click Enable.
  • “Microphone blocked” — allow the microphone in your browser’s site settings, then rejoin. You can still join and listen without one.
  • “Reconnecting…” — your connection dropped; voice comes back on its own. If it doesn’t, the dock shows Rejoin voice.
  • “You’re muted” — the table noticed you talking while muted. Press V or Unmute on the reminder. Turn the reminder off under .
  • “Voice moved to another device” — you joined from a second tab or device; the first one left. One seat per person.
