Importing characters
If your character already lives on D&D Beyond, the importer can pull their details across so you don’t have to retype everything from memory.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- Your character sheet must be set to Public on D&D Beyond — private sheets can’t be read.
Importing from D&D Beyond
Section titled “Importing from D&D Beyond”-
On D&D Beyond, open your character and copy the link to their sheet.
-
In PostRoll, open the importer and paste the link into Paste your D&D Beyond character URL.
-
Select Fetch Character.
-
Review the preview: the character’s name, species, and class with level appear right away. Expand Show Raw Character JSON to see everything else the import found — scores, gear, spells, and more.
-

What carries over
Section titled “What carries over”The preview surfaces the character’s name, species, and class and level at a glance, with the complete D&D Beyond record available under Show Raw Character JSON. Nothing is written to your Actors page automatically.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- “Character not found or not shared publicly.” — the sheet is private, or the link is wrong. On D&D Beyond, set the character’s privacy to Public and try again.
- “Invalid D&D Beyond character URL.” — make sure you copied the character sheet link itself, not a campaign or homepage link.
- Other sources — only D&D Beyond links are supported today. There’s no PDF, Foundry VTT, or Roll20 import.
