Dice at the table
The dice roller travels with you into a session. Everything about the roller itself — die types, notation, your dice appearance, your roll history — is covered in Dice. This page is about rolling at the table, with other people watching.
Who sees your roll
Section titled “Who sees your roll”The dice toolbar has a visibility button that cycles through three settings. Click it to move to the next one; hover it for the explanation.
| Setting | Tooltip | What actually happens |
|---|---|---|
| Everyone | “The whole table sees this roll” | The roll animates on every screen and goes to the game log |
| GM only | “Only the GM sees the result — others just see that you rolled” | GMs get the full result; everyone else is told a roll happened, with no numbers |
| Private | “Only you see this roll — nothing is shared or tracked” | Nothing is sent, nothing is logged, and it does not count towards your dice statistics |
Your choice sticks between rolls, so check the button before a secret roll — and check it again afterwards.
Rolls everyone can watch
Section titled “Rolls everyone can watch”When a roll is shared, it does not just print a number — the dice physically roll in 3D on every screen at the table, using that person’s own dice appearance, so the wizard’s marbled purple d20 looks like their d20 wherever it lands.
A GM only roll reaches the GM in full. Other players see that someone rolled but never the result.
Rolling from the command bar
Section titled “Rolling from the command bar”Type /roll followed by dice notation in the command bar to roll without
opening the roller — /roll 2d6+3, /roll 1d20. The result animates for
everyone and lands in the activity feed. See Slash
commands for the full list.
Rolling initiative
Section titled “Rolling initiative”You do not need the roller for initiative. Every combatant in the Combat panel has a small dice button on its row, and the same menu is on the turn tracker’s portraits — each rolls a d20 in 3D and writes the total straight into the initiative column. GMs can roll the whole encounter at once with Roll All.
