Sending your first message
The chat surface lives at the chat icon in the left navigation or as a tab inside the contextual sidebar that follows you around the app. This guide gets you from “PostRoll is open” to “I posted something.”
Open chat
Section titled “Open chat”- Click the chat icon in the left navigation. The full-screen
chat opens at
/app/chat. - If you’ve used chat before, the last conversation you had open is selected. If not, you’ll see a placeholder asking you to pick a conversation.
Pick a conversation
Section titled “Pick a conversation”The left rail lists your direct messages at the top and your groups below. Click a DM or expand a group to pick one of its channels.

Send a message
Section titled “Send a message”- Click the composer at the bottom and type. Hit Enter to send. Shift+Enter inserts a new line.
- Your message appears immediately with a “sending…” status that clears as soon as the server confirms.
That’s it — your message is on the wire. Recipients see it in real time if they’re online, or with a notification if they’re not and the channel isn’t muted.
