Placing pins

  1. Pick Map Pins in the toolbar, or press P.
  2. Choose a look — the style, a colour, and a mark that says what kind of thing is here (a door, a trap, treasure, a person).
  3. Click the map. The pin lands exactly where you clicked.

Keep clicking to drop more. The tool stays armed, so keying a room full of locations is one pass rather than eight round trips to the toolbar.

  • Move — drag it. Works with the Map Pins tool active or with Select.
  • Lock — right-click → Lock in place. A locked pin refuses to be dragged but can still be renamed and edited. Worth doing once a map is finished.
  • Delete — right-click → Delete pin, or use the delete button in the Pins panel.

You can move and delete pins you placed. As GM you can move and delete anyone’s.

Pins do not snap to the grid by default: a pin marks a point — a keyhole, a loose flagstone, a specific tree — not a square. Turn Snap to grid on in the panel if you would rather they sat on cell centres.

Give a pin a name and choose when it shows:

  • On hover (the default) — the map stays clean, names appear as you point.
  • Always — good for a keyed map where the labels are the point.
  • Never — for a marker whose meaning is the colour and the mark alone.
