Custom emojis

Custom emojis are scoped to one group. Members upload images and the group’s name them; everyone in the group can use them by shortcode (:tavern:, :dragonseal:).

  1. Group settings → Emoji.
  2. Click Upload.
  3. Pick a .png or .gif file and give it a short name (no spaces, lowercase). The name becomes the shortcode you’ll type to insert it.
  4. Save.

Uploads should be small square images — they’re sized to emoji height inline.

Type : followed by the emoji name. Custom group emoji appear above the standard set in the autocomplete popover. Picking one inserts an inline image scaled to emoji size.

Custom emoji are pickable in the reaction picker too — open the + on a message and they’re listed under “Server” / your group’s name.

The Manage emoji permission gates uploads and removals — the Owner has it by default; grant to specific roles via the role editor.

There’s no hard cap on count today, but keep things reasonable — the picker fills up fast past 50 emoji per group.

Custom emoji are group-scoped. To use the same emoji in another group, upload it there as well. There’s no cross-group emoji sharing.
